NWEA MAP Growth is a computer adaptive interim assessment for K-12th grade students. Recommended administration is 3-4 times per year (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer). Data from this assessment is used to identify students and classrooms that require additional intervention, evaluate programs, and measure growth.
How We Connect
To get your NWEA MAP data into Schoolzilla, you will first need to download one or more data files from the NWEA website. There will be one file for each testing period. The instructions below will help you select the right files to download.
Please note we only support the Combined Data File. The Assessment Results file contains insufficient data to allow for student and school matching.
- Go to your NWEA admin site and log in with your email address and password. (Usually the URL is in the format https://yoursitename-admin.mapnwea.org).
- Click View Reports & Instructional Resources, then click MAP Reports.
- Click Data Export Scheduler:
- Be sure to select the following settings:
Export Type: Combined Data File
Aggregation: By District
Norm Referenced Data: 2020 - Then you should receive the following confirmation:
- The amount of time it takes for NWEA to process your file will vary. When ready, you will see your reports available in the Reports Queue:
- Repeat this process for each of the testing periods that you need.
Mappings Overview
The information below summarizes where key data elements are loaded from across Combined Data Files that are submitted. The column names referenced may not match the column name in the file exactly as this changes over time.
Key Field(s) | Mapping(s) |
---|---|
System Student ID |
Scores are linked to students using the Student ID column in the file. We match to students in the student information system using the following (in order of preference):
*See your student information system page for information on this mapping. |
System School ID |
Scores are linked to schools using the School Name column in the file. This is matched to a school in My Schools. Please contact support to resolve incorrect or failed matches. |
School Year |
Scores are linked to school years using the Term Name column in the file. |
Test Period |
Scores are linked to test periods using the Term Name column in the file. |
Percentile Score |
Percentile scores are pulled from the Test Percentile column in the file where the file was generated using the 2020 Norms. If file was generated before the 2020 norms were released, the percentile score is calculating using the 2020 Norm Year leveraging the RIT score. |
Conditional Growth Percentile Score |
Conditional growth percentile scores are loaded from the relevant Period 1 To Period 2 Conditional Growth Percentile (e.g. FallToFallConditionalGrowthPercentile) columns. Fall test period will reflect Fall-Fall growth; Winter test period will reflect Fall-Winter growth; and Spring test period will reflect Fall-Spring growth. |
Met Growth Target |
Met growth target is determined based on the relevant Period 1 To Period 2 Met Projected Growth (e.g. FallToFallMetProjectedGrowth) columns. Fall test period will reflect Fall-Fall growth; Winter test period will reflect Fall-Winter growth; and Spring test period will reflect Fall-Spring growth. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Are the growth periods used (e.g. Fall to Fall) configurable for the Conditional and Met Growth field?
These fields are not currently configurable.
What is the difference between survey and survey with goals and how does it impact data in Schoolzilla?
NWEA MAP does not provide growth scores involving Survey without Goals scores. They are considered invalid for growth calculations. Review pages 2 and 3 for more information from NWEA MAP: http://legacysupport.nwea.org/sites/www.nwea.org/files/resources.
